Tottenham are set to to break their record attendance in their Champions League match against Monaco at Wembley next Wednesday.

Spurs are playing their Champions League ties at Wembley this season as White Hart Lane's capacity is restricted following the recent works at the ground in preparation for their new stadium. They are confident of breaking their previous record, set at75,038 in an FA Cup sixth-round tie against Sunderland in 1938.

?

Tickets have recently gone on general sale, andt?he? Daily Mail reportthatthe club have already sold more than 50,000 tickets ahead of the clash with the Ligue 1 side.

Spurs have been drawn into a group with Monaco, Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and Russian outfit CSKA Moscow for their first Champions League campaign since the 2010-11 season, when Gareth Bale announced himself on the world stage with hisscintillating performances.

The North London side qualified for Europe's elite competition last year after finishing third in the Premier League, behind champions Leicester and bitter rivals Arsenal. Should Spurs manage to sell all tickets ahead of the Monaco game, it would beat Arsenal's capacity record, which currently stands at73,707, which was set during a matchagainst Lens in November 1998.
